A clear majority of executives agree that AI is critical to the future of cybersecurity:

Nearly half of respondents said their budgets for AI implementation for cybersecurity will increase by nearly a third in 2020. In terms of implementation, more than half of companies are testing AI use cases for cybersecurity. Only one in five companies used AI before 2019, but implementation is expected to increase exponentially: nearly two in three companies plan to use AI by 2020 to strengthen their defense mechanisms against cyberattacks.

The main challenge for implementing AI in cybersecurity shop is a lack of understanding of the process from proof of concept to full, large-scale implementation of use cases: more than half of respondents admitted to having encountered difficulties in this regard.

Furthermore, for half of the companies surveyed, the most significant challenges concern integration with existing infrastructure, data systems, and applications. Although most executives stated they have a clear understanding of the objectives they want to achieve by introducing AI into cybersecurity, only half of those surveyed identified the data needed to operationalize AI algorithms.
